It’s easy to prepare, and the yeast dough for onion bread is guaranteed to be a hit — and it tastes wonderfully spicy. It is prepared from roasted onions – it is ready and cheap in the supermarket, but you can also easily make it yourself. For this purpose, an equal amount of onion is cut into fine cubes, sprinkled with flour and fried in a frying pan with clarified butter. Then drain it well on some kitchen paper.

Delicious Onion Bread Ingredients: Here’s What You Need
For onion bread you need: 500 grams of wheat flour, 1 package of dry yeast, 2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 50 grams of roasted onions, 300 ml of lukewarm water.

Here’s how it works: Put the flour in a large mixing bowl and mix it with the salt. Mix lukewarm water, sugar and dry yeast in a mixing bowl. Leave something until everything is resolved. Then add this mixture to the flour in a mixing bowl. First roughly combine ingredients using a food processor or dough hook in a hand mixer, then knead for five minutes on high.

When the onion bread dough separates from the bowl, add the fried onions and let it run. Then remove the dough clumps from the bowl and continue kneading with your hands on the work surface until all the fried onions are incorporated into the dough. Cover and let rise in a plastic bowl in a warm place for 60 minutes.
Take the dough out of the bowl and divide it into two parts. Knead each one briefly again, shape each into a small loaf of onion bread and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise again for 30 minutes. Tip: If you prefer not two loaves of bread, but a large one, simply knead the dough for a while and form a loaf of it. However, small loaves of bread are easy to split and don’t dry out quickly.

During rise time, preheat oven to 200 degrees for circulating air. Scald onion bread several times with the knife. Put the tray in the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Then reduce the heat to 160 degrees and bake the loaf for another 30 to 30 minutes, depending on the desired degree of browning. Remove, let cool, chop and enjoy.
